Time the Avenger

If any of my readers remain...

My lack of blogging of late has little to do with lack of subject matter, and lots to do with lack of time.

I'm working something close to full time the next few weeks, and so there's no chance of me getting back to regular posting any time soon.

However, as a reward to those who stopped by to read this, here's a few updates:

I seemingly crossed over to the dark side by becoming room mom for my 5th grader's class. However, I consider it undercover work, as I intend to be as subversive as possible while fulfilling my room-mom duties.

The Sleighful of Cellulite remains completely sealed. Even so, I somehow managed to gain 3 or 4 pounds over the holidays. Did the calories simply ooze through their shrink-wrap into my pores? Or do you think the ten dozen cookies I made last month might have had something to do with that? The bag of mini-candy bars? The jugs of eggnog?

There's been one in our garage for more than a year, but I'm pleased to proclaim that I still have never driven an SUV.

All the Hummels I put up on eBay for my in-laws sold - which made me a few dollars...and more significantly, provided the patrons of a post-office with a lovely sitcom moment. I had to make a couple trips to bring in all the boxes, and came darn close to wiping out as I leapt over the queue rope carrying a stack of 5 large boxes, with the grace (or lack thereof) of Cosmo Kramer. ("That was close!" exclaimed the lady behind me - as if I wasn't already quite aware of all eyes in the lengthy line trained on me.)

More than a year later, the McMansion with a graveyard view has yet to find a (living) occupant...which should surprise pretty much nobody except the builder.

And finally, Little Miss Deep Thinker spent much of the month of December pondering Santa Claus. Our most memorable exchange went something like this:

LMDT (out of nowhere ): "If Santa can watch us all the time, I guess he can see us naked."

I cover my face with my hands to stifle my laughter. Which I suppose LMDT takes as me faking crying or being in some other kind of distress...

Because then she says, "Don't worry Mom -- I think only Mrs. Claus sees the girls and ladies without their clothes. Santa Claus is only interested in the boys."

She continued to elaborate -- but unfortunately I trying so hard not to laugh that I can't remember her exact words.

Anyway, thanks to those of you who have visited this site regularly in the past year or so. I've appreciated every comment - whether posted here or in person.

Just as when I started this blog, I'm still masquerading through suburbia - sometimes fitting in successfully, and other times...well...I'm doing a near-pratfall in the post office.

And even if I'm not posting here, I continue my pledge to fight humorlessness whenever it raises its self-important head.

I can't say if, or when, I will return to writing in this forum.

There is never enough time.

My girls are growing up way too fast -- I need to be present for them mentally (and not rewriting stuff in my head during our time together. ) And my Esteemed Husband would like an occasional (okay, maybe more than occasional) shoulder massage.

At the risk of going all Dr. Phil on y'all - it's time for me to stop writing about life and start living it.

So, I bid you all a fond farewell. See ya at Target!

Awwww, nooooo! Bummer city!!

Honestly, I totally get it. I'll be swinging by, of course, to see if/when you make a glorious return to the blogosphere. You page has been such a bright spot, and I've enjoyed every single entry. But real life does call. Unfortunately, for me, real life doesn't call very often, so I'll still be out here, writing away. If I'm still blogging in ten years, does that make me the online equivalent of a cat lady spinster?

Hope to see you in person this year!! Cheers!

Eek, so every time I check to see if you've written anything new, I'll be subjected to that dumb Pretenders song being stuck in my head?

Now that I happened to discover you, you're disappearing?! I do agree in LIVING life. If you can also find a moment to reflect upon it, great. (Dag, can't read the word verification letters.....)

Man, I miss your blog. I know that pesky real life stuff takes precedence, but man... just had to say that. Looking forward to seeing you and the spouse-unit in 27 days or so!!
